Elaina Moriarty

Elaina's lifelong love of swimming began with her swimming in the ocean off of Topsail Island.  it's still her favorite beach activity!  As a youth,, she swam for her local swim teams over the summer and then swam competitively in high school.  Her best event was the 500 freestyle as she has always been better with distance and endurance than pure speed.  Her favorite events though were always the relays!  After high school she stopped swimming competitively but continues to swim for fun and exercise.

Elaina joined the BDA team during the spring of 2020 as a swim instructor and coach.  When she isn't working with us, she is a Media Coordinator at a middle school in Durham.  She loves her job at a library and loves working with kids of all ages, so it has been a great joy for her to combine these loves at the swimming pool.

Besides swimming, some of her favorite activities include cooking, dancing, playing video games, and best of all - reading!  She can't wait to see you at the pool!
